Laser Measure

Why are my readings inconsistent outdoors?

Use delayed capture and a matte target card. Shoot from the shade, and mount the device on a tripod in windy conditions.

Why can’t it measure through chain-link fences or brush?

The laser beam passes through gaps. Aim at a solid surface behind or tape a target card to the spot.

Why do glass or mirrors give incorrect readings?

Avoid shooting directly at reflective surfaces. Place a matte tape patch on the target and measure to that point instead.

Why are readings too short or long on glossy tiles?

Glossy tiles cause specular reflections. Apply matte tape and re-measure at a slightly off-normal angle.

Why is the laser beam invisible in daylight?

This is normal. In bright light, rely on the crosshair or target card rather than the visible laser dot.

Why is the side laser alignment hard to see at noon?

Shade the window with your hand or hat, shorten the measuring distance, and aim at darker or matte surfaces.

Why do results change when I flip the device?

You likely didn’t switch the measuring reference. Set the front, back, or tripod reference correctly in the settings menu.

Why does the camera crosshair seem off-center?

That’s parallax. Hold the device square to the surface, avoid steep angles, and re-center the crosshair before measuring.

Why won’t Bluetooth pair?

Toggle Bluetooth off and on, forget and re-add the device, then reboot. Check app permissions and ensure firmware is up to date.

Thermal Imagers

Why does everything look the same color?

Your span is too wide—narrow it or switch palettes to increase contrast.

Why do I see false hot or cold spots?

They’re likely reflections. Change your viewing angle—if the spot moves with you, it’s not real.

Why do shiny metals read so cold?

Low emissivity. Apply matte black tape and set emissivity to around 0.95.

Why does the image look grainy?

The temperature difference is small or the scene is dim. Tighten span and move more slowly when scanning.

Why does the camera click repeatedly?

That’s the FFC (flat-field correction) normalizing the image—especially common during warm-up.

Why do I get over- or under-range warnings?

Switch to high-temperature mode for very hot objects, or let the camera acclimate before use in cold rooms.

Why does the lens fog after moving from heat to AC?

Allow the camera to stabilize naturally. Don’t wipe immediately—use a dry microfiber after fog clears.

Why won’t USB or Wi-Fi connect?

Reboot the camera and PC/app, use the supplied cable, and ensure both firmware and software are updated.

Why do outdoor scans appear cooler on windy days?

Wind removes surface heat—shield the area or notes wind effects in your report.
